CREATIVE CYANOTYPE
WORKSHOPS
Are you interested in learning the art of cyanotype? Let me show you
how to master the cyanotype process through comprehensive
beginner and advanced creative workshops.

My workshops offer an introductory overview of the captivating art of cyanotype, one of the earliest photographic techniques from the nineteenth century. I will teach you all the essentials, including mixing cyanotype chemicals and coating paper.
Using ultraviolet lamps, you will discover how to create photogram prints from three-dimensional objects, such as plants, flowers, leaves, feathers, or lace. Bring your own objects along to make your work truly unique.
You will also learn how to enhance cyanotypes through double exposure techniques and the skilful layering of hand-drawn images and text using acetate.

Day One
The first session is an introductory overview of the captivating art of cyanotype, one of the earliest photographic techniques from the 19th century. This engaging workshop will teach you all the essentials, including chemical mixing, hand-coating paper with brushes, correct exposures and the final development. Using ultraviolet lamps, you will create cyanotype photograms from three-dimensional objects, such as flowers, leaves, feathers, or lace.
I will also show you how to enhance cyanotypes through double exposure techniques and the skilful layering of hand-drawn images and text using acetate.

Day Two
On the second day, you are encouraged to be more experimental, allowing yourself to develop your skills further, explore cyanotype toning, and use other techniques to incorporate secondary colours. You will learn how to modify the blues with bleach and tone them with tannin to create beautiful sepia images reminiscent of the pioneers of photography.
The additional use of complementary shades of colour will be explored using watercolours, pigment powders and marker pens. In this session, you will discover how the traditional cyanotype method can be manipulated to create a variety of exciting results.
